The Same Agave, Rested in Whiskey Barrels
Samuel Maverick Agave Reposado takes the same 100% Weber blue agave spirit as the 1824 Blanco and rests it in barrels that previously held Maverick whiskey.
Reposado means rested. Time in used whiskey oak softens the agave’s edges and adds warmth and colour, without burying the character that makes the blanco worth drinking neat.
Tasting the Blanco and the Reposado side by side is the clearest demonstration of what a barrel does. Same distillate, same still, same team — the only variable is time in oak.
Colour, nose, palate and finish for this expression have not been supplied yet. Once Maverick provides them they will sit here in the same four-row format used on the in-distribution pages.
A reposado is defined by its rest in oak. Using barrels that previously held Maverick whiskey rather than neutral or new oak means the agave picks up a second layer of character from the spirit that came before it.
It is also the most direct link between the two halves of what we make. The whiskey seasons the barrel; the barrel then shapes the agave. Nothing is wasted, and each bottle carries a trace of the other.
