Four Texas Grains. One Singular Barrel.
Samuel Maverick Four Grain Texas Straight Bourbon is a six-year, single-barrel whiskey built from 51% corn, 20% Abruzzi rye, 19% hard red winter wheat, and 10% malted barley.
Each barrel matures in one of two distinct environments: the underground Lockwood vault beneath the distillery or the Fowler rickhouse on the Maverick ranch. Every bottle is marked with an L or F because where the barrel matured matters to us, and we want that choice to remain visible in the story of the whiskey. Bottled at 106 proof and non-chill filtered, the result balances rye spice, the softness of wheat, and the depth of extended aging.
Final colour descriptor to be confirmed with Maverick before publishing.
Lockwood-vault barrels and Fowler-rickhouse barrels mature under different conditions, giving each single barrel its own character. The L or F designation on every bottle makes that origin visible and invites whiskey drinkers to explore how place influences the final pour.
Why use four grains when three would do? Because each one has a job. Corn lays down the bourbon's sweet foundation. Abruzzi rye adds spice. Hard red winter wheat rounds the edges, while malted barley contributes depth and structure.
We then give the whiskey six years and bottle it as a single-barrel expression at 106 proof. Four Grain is a study in how deliberate choices in mash bill, proof, time, and aging environment can shape a bourbon with more than one story to tell.
